Matthew grew up at Easthaven Baptist Church and has been a member since moving to Kalispell in 1978. After graduating from Flathead High School in 1988, he went to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Texas where he received his BA with a major in psychology and a minor in religion. He later returned to UMHB where he obtained a Masters of Arts in Psychology. It was also at UMHB that Matthew met his wife, Christy, and they were married in June of 1991. Matthew and Christy have two children, Jayme and Caleb. Matthew worked for nine years for Western Montana Mental Health Center as a case manager. He studied and obtained his Montana license to practice counseling and then started a private Christian counseling practice. Matthew has been on staff at Easthaven since September 2004. You will find him preaching on the weekends and teaching and counseling during the week.
